Alex and Ani Signature Expandable Bangles

As seen on the covers of Elle, InStyle, Lucky and Vogue, and now, most recently on the Marie Claire Big Fall Fashion Issue, Alex and Ani expandable bangle bracelets are making big fashion waves. I am thrilled to let you in on this quiet little secret: I have a limited number of these eco-conscious favorites right now in at Loehmann’s.

I have to say, I really love this line. Yes, they are beautiful. Yes, they are trendy. Yes, the innovated and patented design fits everyone’s wrists making them perfect. But more than all that, they were created and designed as vehicle to enhance human consciousness and promote unity.

Made of 100% reused and recycled materials in the U.S.A, all Alex and Ani products are created to “underscore the idea that what is pure and natural is most beautiful”. And beautiful they are! Each piece is symbolic and reflects, like a talisman, the beauty of the wearer.

An assortment of Alex and Ani signature expandable bangle sets will be priced at Loehmann’s for 19.99.

I can’t guarantee which designs will be in all stores, but I can promise it will be worth a look! Remember, only in small numbers at the following stores, so hurry in!

It can’t get any hotter; Smet and Crystal Rock

Hi darlings, It’s Ava again and I have been soooo busy shopping for you!

I just told you all about the fabulous deals I got on discount Ed Hardy graphic tees for Loehmann’s, but I just love this style and I know you do too, so I had to do it again.

Loehmann’s has in a new shipment of  SMET clothing and Crystal Rock tees just for you!

Yes, Christian Audigier and his fabulous rock and roll lines are back. Can you believe the looks that he comes up with? He’s pure genius tapping into the cosmic trends and finding a worldwide passion and appeal of urban culture.

For the SMET line, Audiger’s inspiration is his idol, legendary French rock and roller, Johnny Halladay. SMET is best described as alternative urban street wear with a nod to classic rock style. The use of flocking and foiling on the vintage-inspired t-shirts pairs well with a leather jacket and chrome jewelry, but don’t let that scare you. They also are perfect with jeans, peeking out under one of the falls new cardigans, or with a high waisted pencil skirt.

Crystal Rock is like Barbie grows up, becomes a rock star and meets Japanese anime, but still likes flowers and pretty things.  Really, the name describes the line: It’s feminine and pretty, but has a certain grit.  These brightly colored, all over large print graphic tees, add more than a hint of color and bespeak a certain edge that makes you look twice. You can feel casual and pretty, but tough as nails, all at once. That, my dears, is complex fashion.

And, as always, the famous designer discounted prices of Loehmann’s are unbeatable. So hurry in and get a bunch of SMET and Crystal Rock graphic tees at Loehmann’s while they last!

And that’s the Loehdown!

Men’s Luxury Jewelry from King Baby Studio!

Hi all,

If you live anywhere close to one of Loehmann’s stores in Chelsea, San Francisco, Beverly Hills or Beverly Connection, and you happen to be a fan of men’s urban jewelry, then you better get running. I just got in a limited number of men’s sterling silver from none other than: King Baby!!!!

king baby studio cross & heart necklaceKing Baby Studio is another story where street style and alternative life influences design and fashion. Designer Mitchell Binder, a biker at heart, took typical men’s metal jewelry and brought it up a few notches. Taking very masculine and  “Harley Davidson” type designs  such as crosses, skulls, lions, dragons, and crowns, he handcrafted them in sterling silver with semi precious stones such as garnets and rubies.  This quality and high end rock and roll, biker gear soon caught the eye of some big names…and before you know it; another big trend! In fact, Binder’s pieces are so cool that countless women found their way to their significant other’s dresser top valet finding the need to “borrow” a King Baby pendant or cuff for their own internal “bad girl”. This, of course, lead to the creation of Queen Baby, the women’s signature line.

King Baby CHOSEN RELIC ALLOY BUCKLEBut for once…the guy’s come first! Once again, only in Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chelsea, and the Beverly Connection stores and only for men in sterling. I can’t guarantee that you will find “the” piece you have been dying for, but discounted King Baby? That’s worth the trip! You heard it from Jack!

Cannoli, espressso, tiramisu, and Loehmanns.

Hello my fashionistas!

It’s Ava time and I have news you will not want to miss!

I know everybody likes the month of August for different reasons; the Europeans like it because August means holiday time, others due to the perfect beach weather, kids like it because it means they get to pick out a new backpack and new school supplies and moms like it because the kids are almost ready to go back to school.

For me, August means: Italian Time at Loehmann’s!

Italian cultural fashion comes to Loehmann’s For those who are not familiar with this event, it is when the latest fashions from top designers, as well as up and comers, come from Italy right to our local stores! If there is anything better than fine Italian wine, cannoli and tiramisu, it’s Italian cultural fashion. You will find out what “Made in Italy” really means; experience the rich wool fabrics, fine silks, and quality craftsmanship at saving of 60-80% off department store prices. From high couture to ready-to-wear Italian fashion, it’s a feast for the eyes, luxury for your body and a kindness to your wallet.

The backroom team has been working feverishly to get ready for this year’s event on Tuesday, August 26th.

Over 43,000 units of new fall product will be shipped to select stores in the next few weeks.

So, darlings, get ready!!! You will not be disappointed! Selections will come from top designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, and many others too exclusive to mention in print. But, I can give you a bit of a sneak peek at some of the key trends in this year’s assortment:

We have tantalizing pencil skirts in rich wool and silk fabrics. I found amazing novelty jackets in jacquards, tweeds and plaids. The sweaters look great this season! There will be knitwear from Aviu, D’Exterior, Gazebo, Massimo Rebbechi, Twinset, Pier Antonio Gaspari, and new comer Tricot Chic. Look for long duster coats, fur trims, cashmere, and more. Ready to wear Italian fashion As for color, black is very important, but look for charcoal and grays, navy, olive green and various shades of purple to add newness to your closet.

We all love Loehmann’s Italian events and we all have our favorites:

I am just dying for the belted chiffon sweater coat from Aviu. It’s priced at 499.99, compared to $1250.00 elsewhere. I think I might have to take the plunge!
Victoria, Chelsea’s own personal shopper, loves a certain trench coat with a bow tie back from a name that is just too hot to print. It’s down to 789.99 as opposed to $1975 at other stores. I know she won’t be able to resist.
My associate, Shari, adores a lovely printed dress from a new up and coming designer which is only 599.99 (compare at $1500) and it will be perfect for her. And my darling assistant, Tiffany, wants the 100% Cashmere sweater from Twinset. This gem is priced at 99.99 when it is regularly $250.00. Doesn’t she have a birthday coming up soon?

This event is only in selected stores and selection will vary. Be there first to get first choice, as quantities are limited. It is an event you will not want to miss!!

And that’s the Loehdown,

Ava

No, it’s not the air conditioning!

Art is often in the eye of the beholder.

Whether it is a fine painting, a moving symphony or a piece of prose, the interpretation of the masterpiece if often at the discretion of the viewer / listener, the emotional response that they have to a particular movement. The same can be said for fashion, as it is wearable art.

But sometimes, you just have to say: “No, you got it wrong!”

It was with a chuckle that we listened to a recent mixed media piece presented by the prestigious NY Times, about the street trend of summer scarves. And while, indeed, the trend was well documented with many wonderful pictures of NY’s finest, the end reasoning for the summer scarf trend was the air conditioning in the New York City office buildings.

Um, not really….. the scarves just look good! Our own Loehmann’s buyer, Ava, called the neck wrap  out as one of this season hottest trends over a month ago.

No matter what your interpretation of this trend, and yes, it shall continue on into fall, Loehmann’s has a huge stock of these gossamer beauties on the selling floors right now. At prices as low as 14.99-24.99 (compared at $30-$60 elsewhere), you could actually stock up.

And if you felt a chill from a frigid A/C vent, a beautiful colorful scarf could come in handy.

Sneak Peek at Fall Trends

Even though we are still sweating through the height of the summer heat, in the world of fashion, we have fully moved into fall. That means the style barameters can already begin to detect which trends will be hailing down on us when the cooler weather comes to town. While by no means is this the full list of what you can start looking for to express your true inner fashionista, it’s a nice little rundown of trends seen on the runway.

Fringe Elements:

Continuing with the beloved hippie slash boho feels, this fall sees a return of suede fringe. Donning accessories from boots to bags, this is a bit more conservative fringe than the original 1970’s ancestor. Not crazy long and not overdone ( yet!), we are seeing a more minimalist, simple fringe. Almost like an accessory on an accessory, but it is a nice refreshing change.

Suede fringe boot, shoes and bags..

As with so many things, the key is to not overdo too much of a good thing. Continue to keep the look sleek, minimal and modern. Pair your favorite fringe with sleek classsics so you don’t look like a 1970’s closet hangover. Skinny jeans and ribbed sweaters provide a clean backdrop for dripping suede. Show off a pair of to die for frigged boots with simple shift dresses and solid color tights or leggings.

Peeking at Peeps:

If you got on the trend wagon last year, you can continue to ride the peep train.  The Peep Toe ankle bootie is back again this fall with even more styles to choose from.

Not a full shoe, nor a whole boot, or even a sandal, yet somehow all and inbetween, we have been seeing the bootie on the runways and celebrities for some time now.  Almost always with a serious heel and hitting just at the ankle, they go great with jeans: the skinnier the better! Think a sleek 80’s retro and pair them with dark leggings and a short skirt or dress.

Denim gets accessorized:

There are two looks in jeans that we shall be seeing an increase of this fall: More hardwear and distressing.

Zippers will appear on more than just flys. On pockets in interesting directions, they add some nice interest to one of the favorite closet staples. Other lines are producing denim with rocking stud details and additional design rivits.

In addition to the various washes, distressing has followed the natural progression of wear and artistically applied holes are showing up in knees and thigh areas.

Box or Bag?

The most useful of fashion accesories, the designer handbag, has two new looks for fall as well.

Continuing with a modern sleeking, think medium purse meets laptop carrybag and you have the look of the flat shoulder bag.  They are a bit more professional and can easily move into the workplace, yet can still hold all the essentials. These bags sport a well needed shoulder strap allowing for life on the go. Talk on your I-phone, look at discounted price tags at Loehmanns and still know where everything else important is: perfect!

The super friendly carry all bag also has a new twist:  drawstring openings. The baggy lines of some of our favorite designer handbags get even softer with this new trend in un-hardwear.  Your bag can now open W I D E to carry just about anything you need, plus is sometimes finished with a knot, or a bow, or our first fall trend- the sueded fringe.

Which leads us back full circle, and hopefully leaves you excited for this year’s fall fashion trends!
